A Tweeting Tharoor

I'm not on twtter but i think it is utterly ridiculous that they sould make an issue out of Shashi Tharoor's comment... what's more is they're constantly keeping a track of his "tweets"(i can't stop laughing at that word).. I'm glad he's decided not to stop it..

Restrooms...?

Restrooms...?
From calling the toilet "loo" back in school, to a "Rest room" more recently.. i was taught by my parents, and at school to keep it clean. But leaving home and school restrooms and 'expriencing' public toilets came as... *phew* i have no words to explain... even the thought of the toilets at the railway stations makes me sick in my stomach.

It has to come from each person, a sense of responsibility and understanding... that a public toilet has to be kept hygenic. A lot of people use it...

First of all.. please understand that the FLUSH is there for a purpose, and when they made it and fitted it there, they wanted people to make use of it. You can't just pee and leave that place smelly you know.. When the next person opens the door.. its a blast of..erm.. disgustingly-ammonia-smelling-making-you-want-to-puke kind of air(if you can call it that)...

Secondly, toilet walls weren't exactly made for your purpose of writing your unsuccessful love stories or your rebellious feelings aganist a political party or your fantastical erotic realizations while imagining your next door neighbour or your deep craze for a filmstar... they were just meant to be... walls.. try go buying paper for such purposes.. if you're so broke that you can't afford a sheet of paper and pencil ask me.. i'll lend them to you.. even gift them to you.. better yet go write on the sea shore.. that way you can play with the sea.. you can write all you want and the water can wash it away..

Thirdly, women.. kindly understand.. others do not want to see traces of your monthly cycles displayed at the window or near the toilet seats... kindly keep it private and know where to throw.

Fourthly, this one's for men.. kindly aim into the toilet seat and not around it.. i dunno if you do it for fun or you love watching it flow down like harpic flows down from the sides of the toilet seats in the Harpic ads.. but.. while you do it standing.. We are compelled to sit.. i might not have complained if we were capable of standing and getting our business done like you.

Fifthly, keep the place clean, that is not dustbin, it's disgusting to see bits of paper on the wet toilet floor, strands of hair, empty plastic bottles.. and such things... i know each one of us goes around discussing unclean public loos but if each one of us is careful it can be avoided you know.

Sixthly, this is for people who think mugs and such things kept in public toilets can be thrown around, stamped on, or taken home... That isn't the case... you've got it absolutely wrong.. you just use those mugs or buckets or whatever and leave them in position..

Lastly, Kindly close the door behind you.. do you leave the bathroom door in your house open???

I should list out here just for the attention of those who don't know which toilets are categorized under public toilets... toilets at railway stations, bust-stops, petrol-pumps, colleges, libraries, restraunts, offices.. and any such place where people other than you can 'drop-in'.

There are more things i might have missed out.. but these are the major ones.. before each one teach one.. each one teach oneself..i am confident that i'm a careful user of public restrooms.. are you..?

Austere Leaders ..

I've been reading lately in newspapers, the editorial pages that hold the letters to the editor.. have been lately complaints about how the austerity being practised by the Congress party is a mere show and how it is useless for the "Aam aadmi",, first of all these people calling themselves the aam aadmi are probably writing from air conditioned rooms, getting a good salary, and if nothing else eating three times a day.. People suffering seem to have no place for an opinion.. moreover they have no clue that things like these are happening.. they're still waiting for the people they put in power to help them out.
And people in power are eihter using it as a publicity tool or just making themselves look grand, and those who aren't in power and are educated enough are doing nothing but criticizing those in power and making them and themselves and the whole country look like fools.. Can we do something about it?? Can we take up a decision - the country as a whole to do something about it instead of standing back and hypocritically complaining about what the Congress is doing??
Oh yeah and about Rahul Gandhi's trip costing a crore or so.. he's making that money and spending it.. if you make that money you'd spend it to ..like throughout ages it has been and will be.. those who have money to spend will spend it.. those who don't will save it.. why be jealus, find your own way to get there!..
erm.. however i cannot agree with the idea of Leaders travelling with common people.. i think it might end up being a huge threat in terms of security to the leaders themselves and the people they're travelling with.

A good read:

A Woman's Space...

Today morning, me and my friend Smitha decided to stop by the small tea-stall outside the institute... we ordered our cups and waited... what we noticed (not unusual) were men-- young and old glancing at us like we had barged into their space...
I couldn't figure out if it was astonishment or bewliderment but these same kind of glances had reached me once when i had decided to sit on the upper berth in a local passenger train.. like the men usually do.. and we women don't stare at them..
So, why exactly are we treated like from outer space when it comes to doing something away from the conventional...?
In this age where people are talking day-in and day-out about Women Empowerment and Uplfting the position of Women in society... why are these things such a big deal??

Why does my decision to wear my salwar kurta without a dupatta, or a t-shirt and pair of jeans, or smoke (understading it is harmful to health and a public offence) make me a "characterless" woman?
Women empowerment does not come from granting reservations to the weaker sex(like men call us) for colleges, in buses, trains and for jobs... that was just a step.. that isn't even needed anymore.. What's required is for the men to change their thought process, their disposition towards women... they require to accept us, in the way that we want to be.. like women in other countries are being accepted..
Till you (men) slap on our faces with those dirty looks at our weird clothes, our hair let loose or our boldnes-- you make us afraid and compel us to live quietly and hold ourselves within the house and the family and unwritten backward social restrictions...

Why is it okay for you men to discuss us women as a topic among a group of your kind and offensive if we even look at a passing man not with any inention at all?
Why is it "but natural" for you to fantasize about women behind locked doors, watch obscene pictures of unclad women but inacceptable if we walk around in a t-shirt and pair of jeans or a tight blouse or a short skirt?
Why is it fine if you pass an itimidating comment about our body while we pass but close to blasphemy if we retaliate loudly or comment on you....?

We are still looking for a space of our own.. Where you'd just shut up and not smirk at us pervertly... why not let us be?

An old peice-- Bal Thackerey's Interview to Time magazine..

Q: Why is Shiv Sena attacking Muslims? A: Muslims started the riots and my boys are retaliating. So you expect Hindus to turn the other cheek? I want to teach the Muslims a lesson. Or fortitude has gone too far... Q: Why are you so angry with Muslims? A: They are not prepared to accept the rules of this land. They don't want to accept birth control. They want to implement their 'Sharia' in my mother land. Yes, this is the Hindus motherland. Q:But the muslims are fleeing Bombay. A: If they are going, let them go. If they are not going, kick them out... Q: Is this a stepping stone toward a Hindu nation? A: We don't need stepping stones. This is a Hindu Rashtra No it isn't any different today.. Hindutva is just as strong, but is it a cultural movement?? So obviously not.. it's a political one, it's just claimed cultural nationalism. It is NOT a "way of life"!!.. it began in the early 1920's and is growing really fast..it aims to build a Hindu Rashtra.. a nation based on values derived from Hinduism.. the religion in itself is beautiful.. but you don't slap it on to other people's face, force them to follow it and simply call it "way of life"... And ridiculously the whole ideology has a set of norms that opposes the Constitution of India. Killing of religious minorities cannot be justified.. and that too in places like Gujrat where their number is so small that their existence can't possibly make any difference!!! These people are so openly conducting genocides repeatedly in over a deacade now.. and being supported by the parties in power.. And years after Ishrat Jehan is killed, they realize it's a fake encounter.. however, Gujrat rejects the magistrate report stating the same.. You can't just "reject" a magistrate report... a lot of research goes into it!! Policemen eager to get promoted kill a few muslims, claim that they had links with LeT and BJP casually says that Modi cannot be held responsible for everything in the state.. Fine.. then who is?? And how many more to go?? I mean there are obviously more power hungry officials there.. does that mean we hide our religious identity and get ourselves bullet proof clothing to walk on the streets?.. When we put you people in power, it isn't for you to make money and sit on it.. its because you claim that you are working for the people.. and you are responsible for everything that happens here.. and unless you understand that.. people will kill.. law will not work out and killings even mass killings will continue....! a good read.. Anand Jon..

Poor Anand Jon is stuck with a sentence of minimum of 59 years in prison by a Los Angeles court for preying upon seven young aspiring models as young as 14 and sexually assaulting them... A good looking man, famous, rich.. and models all around him 24 x 7... why did/would he...! i mean ..

Anyway... and then why exactly are they not ready for a new trial if the accused is constantly telling them that about some juror and prosecutorial misconduct, and inadequate defence by his former attorneys.

Quoting wicked Wikipedia: "Alexander is a former fashion designer turned convicted serial rapist..." even before the court declared this was up on the net.. :P

So, Sanjana (his sister) has cleverly brought up a racial issue.. now for those not in suppport of Anand Jon.. obviously, the racist issue is the sole streak of hope that Sanjana is bringing in so that her brother gets popular support.. but.. for people who do support Jon and think that he is a victim of false accusition due to his nationality are strongly stressing that he should be heard out...

and Oh yea.. there's this site where you can vote in support of Anand Jon.. which starts like this : "Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth"
-Mahatma Gandhi

how crazy.. i just checked out his pictures again.. and yet again i say.. its all so Crazy.. he looks way too good to have to go and do stuff to these girls forcibly.. i bet they drooled over him.. all those against him are playing good business rivalry.. Law stinks equally everywhere does it not..? However there are a LOT of people who believe otherwise... people who've known him say his business dealings were crooked and so were his way with women... (erm.. i want to write no more.... i should go have lunch.. there's way too much going on.)
