Where nursery Rhyme characters become full-fleged insults...

IBN reports that a relaxed Shourie was asked for a clarification.. but is defiant.. Link 1:http://ibnlive.in.com/news/shourie-safe-but-no-respite-for-raje-and-khanduri/100040-37.html So, next time i want to say someone is dumb i just have to call them 'Humpty Dumpty' or 'Alice in 'blunderland' eh...? So our leaders are finally showing us the way.. atleast by telling us how to use our kindergarten knowledge to address those we work with.. and not playfully .. but publicly offending and insulting them.. Such indiscipline within a party is foolish.. that to from educated senior leaders.. Personal grudges should be kept away.. and ideologies should be sorted.

NH 33 caves in due to Illegal coal mining..

Violent eruption of an underground fire on 35 km stretch on the highway between Ranchi and Patna, on Friday, lead to the decision of the Ramgarh district administration of Jharkhand to stop any movement of vehicles in that area.

The closure of a very important road such as this can cause damage to the supplies of coal, food grains and other goods thatare supposed to pass through this road.

Though the mine fire was suspected about a month back, at Kujju the fire was detected by local residents last week in the nearby mine

Jaswant Singh expelled...?!

Today Morning a copy of the Hindu reported that Senior BJP leaders were considereing a 3 day "chintan baithak" at Shimla to discuss the issues raised in the book 'Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence', as they raised a question on the party's belief on partition..
And by afternoon a news search on the internet told me that Shri. Jaswant Sinha had been expelled.
for reference:
So much for freedom of expression.. someone who's been in the party for so long and that too in a respectable position is thrown out for doing a little research and expressing his views.. I don't see why his being in the party should make him any less qualified to write and publish a book that contains his opinion about a particular event in history. Bad enough we have such restricting ideologies that don't let us see beyond something we've been taught in schools, and worse to see that a person isn't allowed to act a little scholarly and think different. So when a leader like Jaswant Ji went on with this he was stripped of all his posts in the party and they cancelled his participation from any forums of the party.. way to go!

Jaswawant Singh's new book..

I came across an article in The Indian Express dated August 17th 2009, about CNN-IBN's exclusive telecast on an iterview with Shri. Jaswant Singh on his recent biographical book about Mohammed Ali Jinnah.
I did a google search and came across this:
--- A site on the same regard quoted the following---
Jaswant Singh sparked off a controversy when he told Karan Thapar in "Devil's Advocate", which was aired on CNN-IBN Sunday and Monday, that: "Nehru believed in a highly centralized polity. That's what he wanted India to be. Jinnah wanted a federal polity. That even Gandhi accepted. Nehru didn't. Consistently, he stood in the way of a federal India until 1947 when it became a partitioned India." (to read further Click Here)

Back in school.. history classes meant paragraphs being read out by the teacher from an NCERT book.. While half of us got bored in the process and dozed off.. the rest would sit upright and careful to underline long sentences, important words and make notes. I did try it on and off, but never consistently.. I think they should get the student to read this interview and have a debate of sort on these characters that we so often read in our history text books.

A security Check....?

I was watching news on some channel the other day and i paused on hearing an issue being made out of Sharukh Khan bieng detained at the Newark-New Jersey airport on Friday night. for those of whom who might want to read here's a link: http://ibnlive.in.com/news/detained-because-my-name-is-khan-says-srk---ministry-angry--sallu-on-srk/99259-8.html here's what i think: i don't think it's about "Racial issues" or "humiliation" .. it's a security check.. Fine, they were a little tough according to our star( by the way this is depspite the fact that he's one my fav. actors) but i don't think Inidians need to make a deal out of it by calling the issue a humiliating one. I think it's just a security check, they think it's nece3ssary, with the kind of terrorist stuff happening, that's a sensible government's way of handling immigrants. I mean Free India and all agreed, but er're so free that i wouldn't know if i were sitting right next to a foreign terrorist in the train i travel everyday.. Those people are just more careful and they realize the safety of the people of their country is an important thing. Tkaing strict long security steps for it doesn't look wrong. Moreover, our people go there for their own work.. a little suffering shouldn't be made such an issue.. Sure enough if i were in his place or in the place of others who were held there i would be irritated.. but it would be no big issues.. it's just like i stand hours for a train that runs late or a long que at the counter of a supermarket or for a cinema or train ticket.. :D And anyway.. i don't think 'll get to go there yet.. :P I'd rather shut up and sit next to the terrorist hoping the bomb wont explode... This one's for Trivandrum Press Club

I'm enjoying the classes and I've started reading newspaper finally. I think the classes are very interactive and informative at the same time. I do wish i knew Malayalam however, it would have made the classes better. I wish to use this blog exclusively for my EJ classes and to pick on any eye catching news and express my opinion on it. Unless Anil sir wants us to do something more with the blog.

A Fresh Start...

So..
leaving yesterday behind isn't very easy.. I mean literally.. like break off.. and start new again..
but i decided to do so.. and this time not because i failed in love or an examination.. but becuase of a grave mistake i made..
the turn of events had been such.. that it started changing me.. and the consequences have been so far drastic..
Even from the way i think.. right to the way i behave in public.. everything has changed.
but "move on" is something people tell me...
Fine, so now that i decided to move on..
How do i cut off those people from my life, who mean a lot to me.. or to whom i am important..
How do i cut off from places that need my presence.. or my interests that need my time...

Anyway.. starting a new blog is a first.. atleast that isn't a difficult task.
;)
